Why we celebrate National Son’s Day?
On 4 March, sons all over the world are in the spotlight and have fun, because it’s their day! Family holidays are created to strengthen family bonds and emphasise the contribution of each family member. There are many such holidays, such as Mother’s Day and Father’s Day. Therefore, it is fair to celebrate Son’s Day as well. The tradition of honouring sons has been around for a long time, but there hasn’t been a specific date for the celebration. In 2018, Jill Nico has established National Son’s Day on March 4.
What Do People Do?
Parents try to have a good time with their sons. Mothers spoil them in every way possible, fathers do their favourite things to make them even more related. On this holiday, the boys are supported and given a lot of attention because it is very important for them.
Sons’ Day exists in different countries. It is celebrated on different days and according to different traditions. In the US, the #metoo movement is gaining success. Adults emphasise gender equality. They explain to children that the role of each family member does not depend on gender, but on personal skills and interests that are best suited to the family. It is important that the child grows up with a healthy attitude towards gender.
In Japan, the holiday is called Kodomo no hi and is celebrated on 5 May. The Japanese display colourful flags in the shape of carp in front of their house. The number of flags depends on the number of boys in the family. In Ukraine it is celebrated on November 22, when boys are given small presents and cards. There is no official Children’s Day in Brazil. The essence of the holiday is to entertain the child, give him a good mood and make him feel loved and important.
How to Celebrate National Son’s Day?
In the United States, National Son’s Day is celebrated on 4 March. The family usually starts the celebration with a delicious breakfast to get them in the mood for the day. Congratulate boys or grown men on the holiday, as they are all sons. There are also holidays for girls and parents – International Daughters’ Day and Global Day of Parents. And, of course – the National Son and Daughter Day.
