Why we celebrate Global Day of Parents?
Parents have a major responsibility in upbringing children. They lay the basis of the moral values, protect, teach to explore the world, and are ready to sacrifice many things for the child’s good. The parents’ boundless love and contribution to the children development are invaluable. Therefore, in 2012, the UN General Assembly proclaimed the Global Day of Parents. Since 2013, this holiday has been annually celebrated on June 1.
What Do People Do?
The Global Day of Parents reminds of how important the parents are in their child’s life. On this day, children congratulate their mothers and fathers, expressing their gratitude, love, and respect. Parents attend concerts, where children act in various plays, recite poetry, dance, and sing. They also make cute crafts or postcards by hand. It’s notable that the World Children’s Day is celebrated on the same day. There is also the National Grandparents Day, but it is celebrated on another day.
How to Celebrate?
On the Global Day of Parents, you can arrange a family picnic and have fun. Since the International Children’s Day is celebrated on the same day, parents may leave work earlier so that they can spend more time with their children. And children have a mini break from school. In some countries, these events are celebrated on different days. The USA celebrates the National Parents’ Day on the fourth Sunday of July, India on February 14, DR Congo on August 1, and South Korea on May 8.
