Why we celebrate International Rescue Cat Day?
International Rescue Cat Day is a holiday that touches on a rather important subject. There are so many homeless animals in the world today, wandering from one place to another and in most cases ending their lives rather miserably. This holiday encourages many people to adopt a street cat or at least help it get into a shelter. At the shelter, it will live for the rest of its time, and the necessary medical procedures will be carried out for it.
The problem of stray animals has been around for a long time. In 1867, an organization called A.S.P.C.A. (American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals) was founded. Its founder was Henry Berg. Today the A.S.P.C.A. continues to work and organise various events to help deal with such a problem. And in fact, all this is organised for a good reason, as the number of cats given out of shelters into loving homes is on the rise in today’s world. International Rescue Cat Day was first celebrated in 2019, and every year it becomes more and more popular.
What Do People Do?
On this day, many people visit shelters and choose their own favourite pet. If this is not possible, they can donate money to charities that run shelters and rescue homeless cats. Some help volunteers find lost pets and return them to their owners.
How to Celebrate International Rescue Cat Day?
The International Rescue Cat Day is celebrated annually in many countries on 2 March. You can also easily mark the day by visiting an animal shelter or helping people find their missing cat.
