Why we celebrate Bisexuality Day?
Every person is valuable and deserves respect. But bisexuals still face unfair treatment because of their orientation. Pressure from society, including some minorities, makes them feel vulnerable. Misunderstanding, prejudice, and judgment of people are at the head of bisexuals’ problems. It is necessary to inform the public with the correct information and dispel myths to solve these problems. Celebrate Bisexuality Day, or Bisexual Pride Day, helps to cope with this task.
Bisexuality is a romantic or sexual attraction to people of different sexes or genders. Musician Freddie Mercury was a famous bisexual. The date of Celebrate Bisexuality Day was chosen on his birthday. Wendy Curry, Michael Page, and Gigi Raven Wilbur are bisexual rights activists who established the holiday. They note that the choice of date matched all of their criteria. One of their requirements was that the celebration had to coincide with a public holiday. Thus, Celebrate Bisexuality Day was first officially celebrated on September 23, 1999. It happened at the International Lesbian and Gay Association Conference in Johannesburg, South Africa.
Celebrate Bisexuality Day is also called Bisexual Pride Day, although Bisexual Pride Day was announced earlier on June 23, 1990, by the mayor of San Francisco. The day also goes by the following names: CBD, Bi Visibility Day, Bisexual Pride and Bi Visibility Day, and Bisexuality+ Day. The plus sign implies the involvement of other minorities in the celebration.
What Do People Do?
People hold festivals, parades, and concerts on this day. They decorate houses, shops, and parks with thematic accessories. The heads of various states support this event. The city hall of one of the Israeli cities was illuminated with the colors of a bisexual flag. The flag is of pink, lavender, and blue colors. Close people of a bisexual person also take part in the celebration. Activists organize events to educate people about bisexuality. Thanks to this day, many people get rid of wrong beliefs and become tolerant. Most latent bisexuals accept themselves and stop being afraid of the opinions of others.

Celebrate Bisexuality Day is celebrated annually on September 23rd. It is celebrated in the US, UK, and other countries. Spend this day learning more about bisexuality. Go to a bisexual parade or install a bisexual flag on your home. Take a closer look at your surroundings; perhaps, someone is afraid to admit their orientation. Show him your care and attention.
