Interesting facts about writers and inspiration
- Alexander Pushkin always left near his bed sheets and ink, to immediately write down the lines that came to mind at night.
- Fyodor Ivanovich Tyutchev’s poem “Russia cannot be understood with the mind alone” was written down by him in a huff on a scrap of paper.
- Friedrich Schiller kept apples in his desk drawer. He could only write when there was a smell of rot in the air of his study.
- Victor Hugo wrote completely naked – it was the only way he could create.
- Henrik Ibsen drew inspiration from hatred: the playwright hung a portrait of his rival writer August Strindberg above his desk.
