It all started in 1984. That year, Alice Solomon graduated from college at the age of 50. During her studies, she felt that society treated her and young students differently. Someone did not understand why one needed to get an education at such an age. Others treated her with condescension. Yet, there were those who supported her. Alice stated that age is not a reason for a different attitude to life. Still, she couldn’t deny her age, so she added the “Gorgeous” word to “Grandmother”. The 50-year-old college graduate proved by her example that elder women can achieve any heights they want. While lived years and accumulated experience serve as an advantage. Many people liked her idea. This is how the history of National Gorgeous Grandma Day began.

Gorgeous Grandma Day is a great opportunity to spend time with the whole family. Grandchildren can get to know their grandmother better and make sure that she is gorgeous. You can also congratulate any elderly woman who is not a member of your family. Remind her that she’s gorgeous. It’s never too late to discover a new hobby or turn to an old one. This is what Dorothy Custer did on her 102nd birthday. She jumped off a 500-foot-high bridge. Everything went great! This proves that age is not a hindrance to diverse occupations. Incredible achievements are waiting for all of us ahead.

Gorgeous Grandma Day is a US national holiday. It is celebrated annually on July 23. Parents day is also celebrated on this day, and National Aunts and Uncles Day is celebrated just in 3 days.
