Why we celebrate International Vlogging Day?
Video bloggers make incredible influence on their viewers. They can entertain people, inspire, or teach them something new. The International Vlogging Day has been introduced to honor this relationship between video bloggers and their viewers.
The holiday originates from the UK. In 2009, YouTube video hosting became extremely popular. YouTube turned into people’s favorite video platform for posting and watching videos. To honor it, the Summer in the City festival was held. At this festival, live performances and awarding ceremony for bloggers were held. People were deeply impressed by the event. It improved the relationship between video bloggers and viewers, as well as encouraged some people to start making videos about their lives. Since then, the Summer in the City was held on an annual basis. In 2018 this event was lifted to a new level and got the holiday status. It was founded by David Bullas and Tom Burns. The holiday was called the Vlogging Day and is celebrated on August 10. The festival name was also change: the Summer in the City was renamed the Social in the City.
