Why we celebrate Day of the Ninja?
Day of the Ninja is an unofficially fun holiday celebrated by many people around the world. On this day, everyone can try on the role of a ninja by wearing an appropriate outfit, for example. Fans of the theme look forward to this holiday.
It was created by the organisers of the parody website Ninja Burger in 2003. It is said that the day was also timed to coincide with the screening of Tom Cruise’s film The Last Samurai. The very first Day of the Ninja celebration was rather modest and didn’t attract anyone’s attention. But things changed dramatically in 2004, when a group from France decided to support the event. They decided to adopt elaborate poses that would be appropriate for a ninja and take such pictures against the backdrop of their country’s landmarks. The photos quickly gained popularity on social media, and later even began to be talked about in the media. In this way, the French made Ninja Day a more popular and well-known holiday.
What Do People Do?
On this day, many people wear masks or special outfits appropriate to the theme, or portray famous ninja characters. On this holiday, no one will judge you for behaving strangely or showing off your martial skills in public (unless you’re hurting someone else). Some people simply enjoy the ambience and delve into an unfamiliar culture to broaden their knowledge.
How to Celebrate?
The holiday is celebrated annually on 5 December in the US, UK, France and many other countries. In Japan, day is celebrated on 22 February and is recognised as a bank holiday in two regions of the country. You can also support this holiday. Enjoy a movie marathon with family or friends and choose films that tie in with the theme of the event. Try signing up for a martial arts class or playing a Ninja Burger RPG.
