Why we celebrate Forgive Your Foe Friday?

This is one of the days within the Kind To Humanity Week founded by Lorraine Hara. Every day of the week is dedicated to problems people face throughout their lives. Enmity is among these problems. Everyone is sure to have acquaintances with whom we are at odds over something. Step by step, a common quarrel turns into enmity. Enmity never brings any good; it demoralizes. Some people understand this but hesitate to make the first move towards reconciliation. That’s what the Forgive Your Foe Friday is about. It’s a good reason to offer friendship to your enemy and get past the rage.

What Do People Do?

On the Forgive Your Foe Friday, people discuss circumstances that resulted in disfavor. They try to understand and forgive each other. They bring up kind stories and leave their negative feelings behind. In general, you don’t necessarily need a few people to forgive. It’s enough for one of them to do it.

This day encourages people to think about their actions. Perhaps, once you unintentionally insulted someone. Then you need to apologize. You should reconsider the attitude to your enemy. It’s important to understand that it’s up to a person to choose how to perceive another person. You have the right to your emotions, just like any other person. The only difference is that it’s up to you to decide whether you’ll keep feeling negative or will forget all the insults and go ahead.

How to Celebrate Forgive Your Foe Friday?

The Forgive Your Foe Friday is celebrated on the last Friday of August within the Kind To Humanity Week. It’s mainly celebrated in English-speaking countries. On this Friday, you should think about your moral values. Do they include loathing for another person? If they don’t, then forgive your enemy. Our life isn’t long enough to waste it on negative feelings.

Why we celebrate Speak Kind Words Saturday?

Lorraine Hara founded Kind To Humankind Week to remind people to be kind to each other. Each day of the week is dedicated to common human problems. Support, recognition, or a compliment are what every modern person needs. Each of these characters can be filled with kind words. Thus, Saturday is recognized as a day to speak kind words.

What Do People Do?

On Speak Kind Words Saturday, people are especially careful about their speech. At work, colleagues praise each other’s work. Instead of shortcomings, they try to notice positive aspects. Close people express their love and gratitude in words. After all, words have great power. They can make you laugh or upset, inspire and make you act. It is also important to say kind words to yourself. Praise and appreciate yourself. What you think and talk about can materialize. Thus, let more good rather than bad things happen in your life.

How to Celebrate Speak Kind Words Saturday?

Speak Kind Words Saturday is celebrated on the last Saturday in August. This day is part of Kind To Humankind Week. The event is mostly celebrated in English-speaking countries. Try to see something good in unpleasant things and say it out loud. You will notice how this thing will begin to transform in your eyes. Transform the whole world by saying a few good words to the people around you.

Why we celebrate Motorist Consideration Monday?

Traffic accidents happen every day. Some of them are due to an accident, while others are due to negligence. Motorist Consideration Monday is celebrated to remind people to treat each other with respect and consideration on the road. This day is part of Kind To Humankind Week. Lorraine Hara the founder of the Week. She allocated the days in such a way as to touch on the daily problems of people.

What Do People Do?

On Motorist Consideration Monday, people behave more carefully on the roads. Drivers give way to each other and are more patient with pedestrians. The same relates to pedestrians, cyclists, and skateboarders. People remind each other of road safety measures, as well as first aid methods. Not only your life but also other people’s lives depend on compliance with traffic rules.

Facts about traffic accidents

  1. Drivers break traffic rules 4 times more than pedestrians;
  2. If a person is fastened, then the risk of injury may be less than 1%;
  3. A side impact is considered the most dangerous collision during an accident;
  4. The place behind a driver in a car is considered the safest. And the one next to the driver is the most dangerous;
  5. 18-25 mph is considered the safest traffic speed.

How to Celebrate Motorist Consideration Monday?

Motorist Consideration Monday is celebrated on the last Monday of August. As part of Kind To Humankind Week. It is mainly celebrated in English-speaking countries. Recall traffic rules and carefully cross the road. Remind your loved ones about this day. Do not pass by people whose cars broke down along the way and offer them your help. Help the elderly and visually disabled people cross the road. Be careful and kind because more than one life depends on it.

Why we celebrate National Son and Daughter Day?

Childbirth is a real miracle. The whole family rejoices at his or her birth. Children are the center of the parents’ life, that’s why people celebrate the National Son and Daughter Day. This day is also an occasion to raise important social issues. It reminds future parents of a responsible approach to childbirth. As well as of importance of their participation in the child’s life and upbringing.

The holiday was first mentioned back in 1936. A child asked an adult why there was no day to honor sons and daughters. Then the adult (his name was J. Henry Dusenberry), decided to set things right. Since that time, the holiday became popular. However, the celebration date was changed a few times. Since 1988, the event is traditionally celebrated on August 11.

What Do People Do?

The National Son and Daughter Day is a family holiday, so it’s traditionally celebrated by the whole family. Parents put their work off for another day and pay their entire attention to the children. Together, they play games, go to the cinema or an amusement park. At schools, clubs or kindergartens, children prepare events for parents. The place of celebration doesn’t matter; what’s important is the time spent with the children. You should enjoy spending time together, since they are growing so fast.

You don’t necessarily need a family connection to take part in the holiday. It can also be celebrated by people who raise children and sincerely love them. Such as aunts and uncles. You can read more about in the Aunties Day.

How to Celebrate National Son and Daughter Day?

The National Son and Daughter Day is celebrated every year on August 11. It used to be celebrated in the US at first, and later it spread to other countries. Congratulate your children on their day. Prepare a nice surprise or sweet treats for them. And if your child is already a grown-up and lives far from you, give him or her a call or send a congratulation message.

Why we celebrate International Beer Day?

Beer is an alcoholic drink that has fans around the world. It helps relax and have a good time if one does not abuse its amount. Initially, the holiday was organized for commercial purposes in 2007. An owner of a bar in the USA decided to get more profit, so he came up with Beer Day. His idea was supported by drink lovers and other bars. Since then, the holiday has quickly gained popularity in all states, and later, in other countries.

The event used to be celebrated annually on August 5 for 5 years; but nowadays, the celebration was shifted to the 1st Friday of August. This decision has a simple explanation. People are more relaxed on the last working day of the week. In addition, some people feel fizzy in the morning after an alcoholic party. And during the upcoming weekend days, they will have enough time to recuperate.

What Do People Do?

International Beer Day hosts festivals, fairs, and even competitions. For example, in England, men are invited to run a distance consisting of several stops. When running the distance, they lead a stroller in front of them. Upon reaching a stop, they should drink a mug of beer. This continues until the last stop. The winner is the one who runs to the end and never turns the stroller over. Also, people participate in alcohol contests.

There are many activities dedicated to this day. Go to a festival or a pub to take part in them. When attending fairs, all visitors can taste numerous sorts of the drink from different countries, as well as learn the secrets of making a hop drink and treat your friend with a mug of tasty beer.

Interesting facts about beer

  • The Sumerians, an ancient civilization, exempted brewers from military service;
  • The oldest alcoholic drink advertisement is 6000 years old. It was found in Syria. A clay tablet has the inscription “Drink Ebla beer – beer with the heart of a lion!”;
  • A man from Russia managed to sniff in (yes, sniff, not drink) an entire mug of dark beer. It took him 12 hours;
  • Hop used for beer brewing is a close relative of hemp;
  • Earlier, newborns were baptized in beer in Norway.

How to Celebrate International Beer Day?

International Beer Day is celebrated annually on the 1st Friday of August. This event is celebrated in more than 50 countries, including the United States, Greece, Sweden, and France. Invite your friends or colleagues to celebrate the holiday together. Treat them with this alcoholic drink and tell some incredible stories.

Why we celebrate Disability Independence Day?

Disabled people often face discrimination, although they can make a significant contribution to the society development. They are the largest minority group and are valuable in their own way. But some people still can’t appreciate their positive characteristics. Some daily activities aren’t still adapted for disabled people. However, like everyone else, they have the right to dignified life. That’s why people celebrate the Americans With Disabilities Day. There’s a need to inform society about existing problems and ways to solve them. This day contributes to addressing injustices against the minority and making their lives better.

The National Americans With Disabilities Day was established to commemorate the signing of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA). It was signed by George H.W. Bush on July 26, 1990. The ADA regulates the rights of disabled people.

What Do People Do?

Activists hold parades and events to celebrate the holiday. A variety of organizations aim their activities at helping disabled people. Cutting-edge technologies and things that will make their lives easier are offered. The purpose of this holiday is to show the public that disabled people are a full-fledged social group. None of them can be discriminated against.

And this holiday really helps. Since 1990, special signs and items for acoustically challenged promptly began to appear on the streets. As well as wheelchair ramps and sound signals for visually impaired. Suitable jobs were organized quickly. Nowadays, mobile phones are equipped with special programs adapted to human capabilities. And these are only a small part of significant help.

How to Celebrate Disability Independence Day?

The National Americans With Disabilities Day is annually celebrated in the USA on July 26. Attend to a disabled person. Even a daily trifle can help a lot. Our world keeps evolving and changing, so we shouldn’t forget about those who need support. After all, they can augment the human goods.

Why we celebrate Spider-Man Day?

Spider-Man is an iconic character from the Marvel universe who has won people’s hearts all around the world. He sets an example for many children and teenagers. Adults also enjoy stories about the superhero’s adventures. The Spider-Man Day is celebrated on a memorable date when he made his first appearance in Amazing Fantasy comic No.15 in 1962. The hero was created by Stan Lee and artist Steve Ditko

What Do People Do?

On this day, the Internet is full of congratulations. People watch movies about Spider-Man (your friendly neighborhood) again and discuss them. Someone dresses up as the character and enjoy walking like this all day long. Guys wear a blue and red costume (like Peter Parker’s), and girls can dress like Mary Jane. Or maybe as Aunt May or as the villain. It’s up to you. They take funny memento photos and share them with friends. In short, everybody enjoys themselves!

How to Celebrate?

The Spider-Man Day is celebrated every year on August 1. The main celebrations take place in the US. Since the movies are popular all over the globe, fans from other countries join the celebration. Celebrate this day with your friends. Visit a comic bookstore or a library to read the very Amazing Fantasy No.15. Go to a car park to watch the superhero movies. For your convenience, we’ll list them in the right order.

How to watch the Spider-Man movies in order:

  1. Spider-Man (2002, Tobey Maguire);
  2. Spider-Man 2 (2004, Tobey Maguire);
  3. Spider-Man 3 (2007, Tobey Maguire);
  4. The Amazing Spider-Man (2012, Andrew Garfield);
  5. The Amazing Spider-Man 2 (2014, Andrew Garfield);
  6. Spider-Man: Homecoming (2017, Tom Holland);
  7. Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse (2018);
  8. Spider-Man: Far From Home (2019, Tom Holland);
  9. Spider-Man: No Way Home (2021, Tom Holland);
  10. Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse Part One (2023).

And what’s your favorite part of the movies? Whom do you like best as Peter Parker: Tobey Maguire, Tom Holland, or Andrew Garfield? Share your opinion in the comments.

Why we celebrate National Ice Cream Day?

Both adults and children like ice cream. The dessert is uplifting and refreshing in hot weather. People love it so much that July has been declared Ice Cream Month, with the official day of celebration falling every third Sunday in July. US President Ronald Reagan himself signed a decree establishing the holiday in 1984.

What Do People Do?

In honor of such an event, fairs are arranged in many cities. Visitors can try various tastes of this ice dessert. Holders of cafes and shops announce the “2 for 1” promotion. The variety of the dessert is so rich that children are not allowed to eat some tastes. For example, ice cream flavored with alcohol or with the hottest Carolina Reaper pepper. Entertainment activities are also held. A speed record for eating ice cream was set at one of these events. 21-year-old Mindaugas Puodzyus from Vilnius set the record. He managed to eat 350 grams of ice cream in 29 seconds. Another record belongs to Canada; the biggest ice cream was made there. The weight of the record holder dessert was more than 10 tons.

How to Celebrate Ice Cream Day?

National Ice Cream Day is celebrated annually on the third Sunday of July. Initially, it was celebrated only in the United States. Yet now, its popularity has gone far beyond the borders of the country, and the event is celebrated in other countries as well. It is interesting to note that World Ice Cream Day is celebrated on June 10th. This date is chosen because the first large-scale sale of ice cream began in America on this day in 1786. Celebrate this summer holiday with a portion of this ice dessert.

This is an important day for Christians. St. Peter and Paul are the preeminent apostles who made a significant contribution to development of the religion. For many years, the religious have been honoring the martyrdom of the apostles on this day. It is not certain what event this date corresponds to: the martyrs’ death or translation of their relics. The celebration falls on the end of the Apostles’ Fast.

What Do People Do?

The Eastern Orthodox Church celebrates the holiday with an all-night vigil. The Latin Church celebrates it as a sacred commitment day, according to the third commandment. The believers have a day off from work and attend the mass. The Lutheran Church ranks the day as a lesser festival, whereas the Anglican – as a festival. In countries with the prevailing number of Catholics, this day is a public holiday. To honor the day, they organize events with traditional dances. The Feast of Saints Peter and Paul is supported by the Voice of the Martyrs organization. It aids persecuted Christians, as well as specified the date for the Day of the Christian Martyr. Those cities patronaged by the saints hold parades and a variety of events.

How to Celebrate Feast of Saints Peter and Paul?

The Feast of Saints Peter and Paul is celebrated annually on June 29. In some countries, it’s a public holiday – in Malta, Italy, Switzerland, and Peru. In England, Wales, and Scotland, the event is ranked as an obligatory holy day, unlike in the USA and Canada. Feast of the Sacred Heart of Jesus precedes this holiday.

Why we celebrate World Refugee Day?

Life is unpredictable and can change in an instant. Your home may turn into a dangerous place to live. Refuging may turn out to be the only option to survive. Nobody is immune to such scenarios. In such times, refugees require a lot of help and support. They deserve a right to live safely and decently. To address this issue, the United Nations General Assembly has established World Refugee Day.

Refugees are people who face threats in their homeland. To survive, they must escape to another country. The list of reasons for refuging may include religious persecution, political situation, war, technological accidents, and other factors. Every minute someone is forced to leave their country. It mostly relates to children and women.

What Do People Do?

Every year the UNHCR develops a campaign to support refugees. They are joined by various humanitarian organizations. Volunteers are involved as well. Together, they review new ways of helping people, especially those who do not have an opportunity to refuge. In the cities, they organize events to support forced migrants. For these people, the organization creates new workplaces and new homes, as well as provides them with medical care. All the activity is aimed at helping people settle in a new place.

How to Celebrate World Refugee Day?

The World Refugee Day is celebrated annually on the 20th of June. It is not a federal holiday. On the same day, the of African Refugee Day is celebrated. On this day, people from all across the globe are calling out for tolerance and solidarity towards the issue of refugees. To celebrate the holiday, you can contact a humanitarian organization, become a volunteer, or make a donation to a charity fund.
