Goof Off Day originated in the United States thanks to the efforts of Monica (Muller) Dufour. She was ten years old when she pitched the idea of the holiday to her grandfather, William D. Chase. Her grandfather decided to support Monica. In 1976, a Goof Off Day celebration was held with the support of the local media. Just 7 years later, in 1983, the holiday went national.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The most important thing about celebrating National Goof Off Day is not to accidentally do something useful. Try it yourself and you’ll realise that it’s a real challenge. There’s always something that needs wiping, a flower that needs watering, a carpet that needs vacuuming.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Goof Off Day is a holiday that you make for yourself because you feel comfortable doing so. It is not an official off-day. It doesn’t usually stop you from goofing off right at your workplace and having a good time after work. For a good mood, we recommend watching classic comedies like Dumb & Dumber<\/em> still.
