Why we celebrate Shavuot<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Shavuot – in Hebrew means “week”. The Ancient Greek language is translated as Pentecost. Shavuot is a Jewish holiday, which takes place on the 6th day of the Jewish month in Siwan. For the holiday is characterized by a double meaning. The first is the collection of wheat in Israel. On this day, God gave Torah to the people of Israel, who gathered at Mount Sinai. Second: Shavuot means a week on which 3 Bible festivals of pilgrimage are held. Under this week is understood the expectation, the desire to give the Torah. On Easter, the Israelites are freed from the enslavement of Pharaoh. Thus they receive the Torah, become a nation. Now their duty is to serve God.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
